Covid 19

In San Joaquin county, the local nonprofits, medical clinics and county agencies are actively partnering together to deliver COVID-19 testing for our homeles...

San Joaquin General Hospital Family Medicine Residency program has been committed to our community since the insurrection of the program. During the Covid 19 Pandemic, the FMRP has been an integral part to the Covid testing, contact tracing, and vaccination efforts in San Joaquin County. Various Covid 19 pop up clinics were set up throughout the county, in order to reach those who are less fortunate, and unable to make it to our county clinics for testing. Attendings, Residents, Medical Assistants and Nurses, Social Workers have dedicated their time to go into the community and provide this resource.

The medical staff was in charge of swabbing, processing and contact tracing of all those that were been tested. Additionally our medical staff has also lead the charge of registering, screening, and vaccinating our population.

During the Covid 19 Pandemic many of our patients have been greatly affected financially and economically. Our homeless population only increased during this time, and there have been numerous barriers to care. As more of our population become vaccinated and and appropriately screened for Covid 19, we decided to continue our efforts of our pop up clinics to provide medical care those less fortunate. “ In order to affectively take care of our population, we need to meet our patients where they are” says Program Director Dr Parsa. He has partnered with Saint Johns Episcopal Church In Stockton, and with our medical staff has started treating patients in their adjacent parking lot. The patient’s receive laundry service and showers from the church, and subsequently can come over to our pop up clinic to receive medical care. We have also partnered with Proveri Pharmacy, that hand delivers medications to our patients at the church.

Our outreach has partnered with various homeless shelters, and has expanded to the homeless encampments to provide this service. Social workers accompany the team and also provide additional resources to the community. Programs that are offered include Whole Person Care, which is a comprehensive program that aims to assist in housing, employment, transportation, food security, and mental health.
